The Brief:
Well Preserved is a social enterprise in Grimsby, Ontario, producing handcrafted jams and condiments made with local Niagara ingredients — and creating meaningful employment for people with developmental disabilities since 2012. After years of growth, they came to Niagara College's BCIC ready for a brand refresh that matched who they'd become: a product with real community roots, now found in retailers across the region.
What I did:
This was a collaborative team project. My scope covered four distinct areas: I hand-illustrated all the fruit graphics in Adobe Fresco that became the visual heart of the new packaging. I designed the product labels applying those illustrations across the full line of jars. I handled the nutritional label corrections across all SKUs — reviewing sizing, hierarchy, and compliance with Canadian food labelling regulations. And I assisted with the food styling for the product photography — building and arranging the scenes and props you see in the final shots.
Note: logo design and brand kit were handled by a colleague, my focus was illustration, packaging, and production.
The outcome:
The refreshed brand launched in late 2025 and is actively selling in retail locations across Niagara, at their Grimsby storefront, and through custom orders for events and corporate gifts. The project was featured in a Niagara College publication, with the client noting the work was "professional, friendly, and wonderfully accommodating" — and specifically highlighting how the team made the partners with developmental disabilities feel included throughout the process.
